Painting Blog VIIII - Lion Painting "Ntwadumela"
The inspiration for this painting comes from 2 things. First, my uncle Bob asked me to design his new company's (Lion Street) logo a few months back. Second, there is a lion that National Geographic did a special on years ago, who was a king lion. His name was Ntwadumela. He was known for being an incredibly fierce hyena killer. His name means, "He who greets with fire." I used a clip of the lion as a reference to make this piece. His prowess, regal appearance, and strength influenced me to portray him in the way I did.
...content to move on and start a something new...

Paint Blog VII
I am going to start working on multiple canvases at the same time. This large piece will take a long time, and in the mean time, I plan to start and finish many other projects. I have several paintings planned and a series of drawings.
I also just want to say, that the space I have to paint in is my friend Trevor's garage in the Hollywood Hills. He has graciously allowed me half the garage to paint in for the last 3 years+. It is such a great sacred place for me, and I owe him so much. I'll be in touch, and am excited at this new phase of experimental work and exercises with conté chalks, oil bars, and of course lots of oil paint.
peace
